Light the Night @ Miller Point: Here’s a look at the captivating Fire Globes display along the McHenry Riverwalk beside the Fox River—a local art installation and annual lighting tradition

The Fire Globes at Miller Point in McHenry, IL, are unique outdoor art installations that consist of large spherical sculptures designed to hold and display flames. These globes create a striking visual effect, especially at night, as the fire illuminates the area and reflects off the water nearby. They serve as a popular local attraction and gathering spot, blending natural elements with artistic expression to enhance the scenic beauty of Miller Point. The Fire Globes often symbolize warmth, community, and creativity within the McHenry area.

The McHenry Riverwalk Foundation and the Parks & Recreation Department initially launched the Fire Globe program in 2019 and used a crowdfunding campaign called “Light Up the Night Fire Globe Campaign” to install around 11 globes. The Fire Globes are traditionally lit at dusk, and for a period were lit every Saturday through October, weather permitting
